Mediterranean Shipping Company has extended its contract with GB Railfreight for running container services out of the Port of Felixstowe.
GBRf runs three services daily, one to Newell and Wright in Rotherham, and two to ABP Connect in Hams hall.
Under the new contract, GBRf will be running 98 rail platforms daily, with a mix of 60 ft FEA wagons and 40 ft ECOfret triples.
MSC managing director Dan Everitt said: “Rail is an integral part of our supply chain enabling us to move our customers’ containers closer to their final destination, while offering a reduction in CO2 emissions.”
* GB Railfreight has promoted Duncan Clark to strategic development director. At the same time Lee Armstrong is returning to GBRf as Commercial Director.
Clark will oversee the creation and implementation of innovative strategies to deliver long term, sustainable results for the company. He joined GBRf in 2015 as head of strategic development, after a twelve-month period as programme director in the Digital Railway.
Armstrong has over 30 years’ experience in the rail sector and first joined GBRf back in 2013 as programme manager ERTMS. He worked on strategic planning and business management, before taking a year out to travel.
