Yusen Logistics expansion plans has triggered a relocation within Wellingborough to Prologis’ Prologis Park Wellingborough West scheme on the outskirts of the town.
Prologis will develop a 379,000 sq ft build-to-suit warehouse for the company on the 110-acre scheme which has planning permission for a total of 2.15 million sq ft in total. Yusen will be the first occupier on the scheme. Construction of the new building will start in spring 2017 and it will be designed to achieve a minimum BREEAM ‘very good’ accreditation and the best EPC rating possible for its size, the facility is expected to complete in early 2018.
“Yusen has operated from Wellingborough for many years and the town has proved to be an ideal location for our business,” said Kevin Appleton, managing director, Yusen Logistics (UK). “We are expanding to meet growing customer demand, so we are delighted we have secured a new building at Prologis Park Wellingborough West.”
Located beside the Park Farm Industrial Estate, Prologis Park Wellingborough West is next to the A509 and close to the A45, A14 and the M1.
Andrew Griffiths, managing director of Prologis UK said: “There is steady demand for new logistics facilities in the East Midlands and we are developing this new Prologis Park so that we can offer our customers the best opportunities in the market.”
Burbage Realty and Lambert Smith Hampton acted for Prologis. Louch Shacklock represented Yusen Logistics.
