Freight management company Ceva has amalgamated two Midlands facilities to establish one flagship freight forwarding facility at Birch Coppice Business Park in the West Midlands.
The purpose built 55,000 sq ft bonded warehouse, developed by IM Properties to incorporate bespoke requirements for Ceva Freight (UK), underwent a £200,000 fit out incorporating a Red Prairie warehouse management system with HM Customs interface.
The building, which has a wide aisle racking arrangement and can accommodate 9,500 pallet spaces, has been taken on a ten-year lease at a rent in the region of £250,000 a year.
Bryan Hindle, regional manager for Ceva Freight (UK), said: “Location of warehousing is always a critical factor in our industry and Birch Coppice has a high rating. The benefit of having the rail-served Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) on site, just a few hundred yards from our new facility fits well with our traditional freight forwarding and gives the flexibility of multi-modal transport.”
“We are currently processing over 3,500 shipments a month comprising of national and international movements for regular volume contracts and one off consignments.”
