Convenience store chain SPAR, in conjunction with multi-temperature supply chain specialist Oakland International, has launched a delivery scheme designed to provide its wholesalers with increased order fulfilment and improved shelf life on chilled products.
Oakland will initially start the scheme off with eight suppliers before rolling it out across an increased supplier base.
Dean Attwell, managing director of Oakland, said: “Eventually this will deliver additional benefits such as improved shelf life, fewer opportunities for products to be out of stock due to increased delivery frequency, an increased product range, reduced wastage and an enhanced shopping experience for SPAR customers.”
The scheme, which has been developed over the past two years, is also expected to help reduce supplier road miles and lower carbon emissions, as well as helping to push the SPAR own label product range across the business.
