P&O Ferrymasters has set up a dedicated Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) team, which has been established in Verona as the next step in its plans to tap into business opportunities arising in eastern Europe and eventually Asia.
Commercial director Mark Mulder said: “This is about investing in the future and the future lies in opening up a gateway to Asia through Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Ukraine. Trade is slowly but steadily moving from the east to the west as consumption increases in Central and Eastern Europe. Increasing prosperity and business relocations followed by improvements in infrastructure and capacity all point to future opportunities in this area, particularly in the core markets in which we operate and service our customers.”
Verona is of significant strategic importance as it sits at the crossroads for traffic arriving from the north via Brenner and from the east via Tarvisio and Trieste.
