Psion Teklogix has unveiled the Neo, its next-generation lightweight, pocket-sized handheld computer. It is designed by an enhanced replacement for the Workabout MX which was launched some 13 years ago.
The Neo uses Microsoft Windows CE.NET 5.0 to integrate a number of data capture and communications functions including an integrated imager or laser scanner, Wireless LAN, and Bluetooth wireless capabilities.
In addition, Neo uses Psion Teklogix’ PTX Connect application to provide VoIP with discrete push-to-talk for real-time voice communications as well as instant and text messaging functions.
The unit can be expanded to incorporate new technologies, such as RFID, based on a user’s future application requirements. It weighs 275 grams and measures 16.5 cm long by 6.4 cm wide by 3.8 cm high. It has an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance as well as an ability to withstand 26 drops from 1.2 metres to concrete.
