Philips Electronics and Gazeley have signed a deal under which Gazeley will use Philips’ energy efficient lighting across its operations. It expects savings in energy and carbon dioxide emissions amounting to 45 per cent and as much as 83 per cent in waste reduction.
“In general, lighting accounts for about 19 per cent of electricity consumption. This figure is substantially higher for warehouse sites,” said Berno Ram, sustainability manager for Philips Lighting. “The beauty is that by just switching to, or installing new energy efficient lighting, significant savings can be made in energy consumption/costs, carbon emission and waste.”
