The purchasing and procurement arm of home improvement company Weldom is to roll out several software packages from Manhattan Associates across its entire supply network.
Weldom, which is a subsidiary of the Adeco Group, has chosen to implement Distributed Order Management (DOM), Extended Enterprise Management (EEM) and Warehouse Management systems to help strengthen its international distribution infrastructure.
The WMS will be installed across its distribution centre network in France, first at its two national DCs at Breuil le Sec and Bryères, both near Paris, and then at the remaining six regional DCs.
Once all eight are live, Weldom will implement the DOM system, which will improve global inventory visibility across its DC network.
Weldom reckons the Extended Enterprise Management system will help it improve operational connectivity with its suppliers across Europe and Asia.
Franck Deboise, logistics director at Weldom, said: “We needed a new systems capability that would enable us to achieve a complete and clear view of our supply chain, allowing us to optimise the flow of goods through our distribution network, from our suppliers, through our DC network, and to our stores. We chose Manhattan on the strength of its footprint and depth of its solutions’ functionality.”
The fully integrated supply chain solutions platform will be further enhanced by complementary technology in the warehouse, in the form of voice-recognition technology from Vocollect that will provide further opportunities to enhance the overall efficiency of the company’s DC operations.
