Palletline has started operations at its new central hub in Solihull, south of Birmingham which trebles throughput capacity.
The operator reckons it is the first palletised distribution network to operate a drive-through, side-load operation.
This is says achieves “total de-pedestrianisation” and goes beyond the requirements of health and safety legislation covering the palletised distribution sector.
Every vehicle taking freight to site passes twice through vehicle scanning lanes in a purpose-built quality control centre, undergoing freight checking procedures to achieve total traceability and service consistency.
Managing director Kevin Buchanan said: “Smooth implementation of the new model has been achieved from day one by careful planning and detailed staff and driver training programmes.”
