Wincanton chief Graeme McFaull is to be the next president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport. He takes over from Richard Brown in May 2009.
McFaull joined Wincanton in 1994 as finance director of the retail division and subsequently took over as managing director. He was promoted to chief executive in 2005.
HE is a fellow of the institute and has been a vice president since 2003. He also sits on the board of BestLog, an EU funded initiative to identify and proliferate best practice in the European logistics sector.
Richard Brown, who is chief executive of Eurostar said: “I am pleased that the presidency will be in such excellent hands when I leave the role. I know that my work in raising the profile of passenger transport professionals will be mirrored by Graeme’s in further emphasising the importance of the logistics profession.”
McFaull said: “I have a hard act to follow in Richard Brown but will work with him to ensure a smooth transition. There are some exciting initiatives running at the moment and I look forward to lending my support in their delivery.”
