Deckers Outdoor Corporation, the parent company for footwear brands such as Ugg Australia, has awarded Wincanton a two year contract to manage its supply chain between Asia and the UK.
Wincanton will be providing inbound transport of Deckers products via road, sea and air, and once in the UK will provide shared-user warehousing and transport, as well as value added services including returns management.
Warehousing will be located at Wincanton’s Greenford site, from which merchandise will be distributed to retail outlets in London, including the recently opened Ugg Australia store in the Westfield Shopping Mall and its second store in Covent Garden.
Wincanton will initially provide Deckers with 5,000 sq ft of warehouse space at the Greenford site.
Terry Clarke, vice president of operations and finance at Deckers Europe, said: “The company [Wincanton] has extensive global supply chain service experience as well as the flexibility and expertise to deal with the challenges associated with a fashion retail business. We have plans for growth in Europe and feel that Wincanton is well-placed to support us.”
