Sainsbury’s has taken delivery of a fleet of 241 Jungheinrich forklift trucks at its Hams Hall distribution centre.
The contract was fulfilled in two phases with 152 trucks delivered in the summer and the remaining 89 becoming operational in October.
The fleet includes reach trucks, low level order pickers, ride-on pallet trucks and models from the new VFG range of hydrostatic engine counterbalance trucks.
They have been provided on contract hire and as part of the package Jungheinrich service engineers will be permanently based at the site.
The 690,000 Hams Hill warehouse provides ambient and chilled storage and serves Sainsbury’s stores throughout the West Midlands.
Jungheinrich now supplies around 25 per cent of all of the forklift trucks used by Sainsbury’s within its UK logistics operation.
Earlier in the year it supplied more than 115 trucks to the supermarket’s Tamworth DC.
