The number of trucks running empty is increasing, according to Transporeon, the German e-logistics company.
Brian Kilshaw of Transporeon said: “Since 2003 we have used our TICAP system to measure the number of offers UK and European carriers make for each available load.
“Figures for December 2008 show a doubling of the number of carrier offers against the figure for 2006, and it is a clear indication of an increase in available freight capacity in the market.”
Kilshaw said using a e-logistics system could help shippers and carriers cut costs.
