Volkswagen Group UK has renewed its national distribution contract with Ceva Logistics for its replacement parts service, extending the two companies’ 22 year partnership.
Under the agreement Ceva will continue to deliver through the night to 850 Volkswagen Passenger Car, Audi, Skoda, Seat and VW Commercial Vehicle dealerships and trade parts specialists nationwide. Customers are able to place orders until 6.30pm for pre 9am next day delivery.
The deal also includes express delivery services carried out by Ceva-managed carriers and a mobile track and trace IT system, C-CAM, which supports the dealer returns service.
Volkswagen also recently renewed its warehousing and commercial contracts with Ceva in the UK.
* Elsewhere, Ceva Logistics has implemented a fully integrated routeing and scheduling optimisation system from Paragon to help boost customer service levels within its home delivery business.
The system has enabled Ceva to improve efficiency and in turn make more deliveries with fewer vehicles by allowing it to give customers a realistic time of delivery 48 hours before.
Tony Percival, senior general manager of Ceva, said: “Paragon maximises the use of our resources, allowing us to plan highly efficient routes and utilise our staff and vehicles effectively.
“We are making more deliveries with fewer vehicles. In addition the system is extremely easy to use compared to other packages and requires minimal training for our planners to become fully conversant in its use.”
The system provides additional benefits if a delivery needs to cross from one depot’s territory to another as its planners can co-ordinate the loads with the adjoining region’s depot.
“This allows us to smooth the whole process, transferring goods between each region as part of one continuous plan. This allows us to keep the goods moving from one region to another preventing potential bottlenecks,” he added.
