Kelly International has taken delivery of seven S.CS Mega curtainsider trailers from Schmitz Cargobull.
The Kent-based haulier will use the trailers to transport large rolls of paper between the UK and mainland Europe for several top paper manufacturers.
They are fitted with a Joloda skate and track system – a floor-mounted system designed specifically for the paper industry, which enables heavy reels of paper to be loaded and unloaded, and manoeuvred inside the trailer more easily.
Martin Kelly of Kelly International said Schmitz Cargobull was the only trailer manufacturer able to fit the system without compromising the internal height of the trailer.
The trailers feature Cargobull’s Varios top-technology, which enables their overall height to be adjusted so that they can run on both British and mainland Europe roads.
The trailer body can be lifted and lowered as required to run on a low ride tractor and can also be used with standard height tractor units.
“There is a trend among paper manufacturers to produce ever larger reels which means the products that we handle are getting taller all the time. This means that we need trailers that offer high internal dimensions but as they will be operating on routes to Europe, we also require a product that does not exceed the four metre European height restriction,” said Kelly.
