Audi’s largest Nordic sales and service unit, Din Bil Sverige, located in Gothenburg, Sweden, has installed a Constructor Tornado system in its workshop for the storage of its mechanics’ tools.
A mechanic who needs a tool walks to the automatic system, orders the tool, and signs for it. When the work is done, the mechanic immediately returns the tool to the system. If other mechanics need the same tool, they can immediately see who has it.
Brand director Håkan Bodeklint says: “We have 15 mechanics. The automatic system saves their time, since they need not spend time looking for tools.”
The original motivation for acquiring the automatic storage system was to save floor space. Previously, there were tool racks round the workshop, but now the tools are stored in the Tornado system, 6.5m high and 4m wide.
“The system features 48 pallets, each with a capacity of 300kg,” says Stefan Lindh, at Constructor Tornado.
