Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has launched a subsidiary in India with the aim of being more active in responding to OEM’s requests for developing logistics solutions.
The company, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (India), is based in Chennai. The company is looking at exploring opportunities in India in areas of automobile/roro terminal development, terminal management, yard management & PDI at car plants, inland distribution of finished vehicles and the establishment of a dedicated ocean product”.
WWL employs 3,300 people and operates more than 60 car carriers and RoRo vessels, servicing 20 trade routes to six continents. It transports 4.3 million vehicles annually: 2.3 million by sea and 2 million by land. Annual throughput of close to 30 vehicle processing centers is 3 million units.
The aim is to establish a long term presence in India covering WWL’s five core products – ocean transport, terminal services, technical services, inland distribution and supply chain management.
