NYK Logistics has appointed Ian Smith operations and business improvement director.
Smith joins from Unipart Logistics where he was managing director of the consumer logistics business, prior to which he spent time at Exel and Tibbet & Britten working across a number of sectors including retail, manufacturing, technology and automotive.
In his new role, Smith will be responsible for all NYK Logistics’ UK operations, primarily in the automotive, consumer electronics, pharmaceutical, industrial and retail sectors.
He will also manage customer KPIs and quality, as well as improvement across the business.
Smith will be based at the company’s head office in Grange Park, Northampton, reporting to chief executive officer Ian Veitch.
