Clipper Logistics is taking over the lease on the 310,000 sq ft rail connected distribution centre at the Potter Group site at Selby in North Yorkshire. Clipper has a number of retail customers for the facility that will go-live in the autumn.
The site allows Clipper to offer direct rail connectivity as part of its services and the site’s proximity to the East coast also provides links into Clipper’s recently acquired operation on the continent.
After initial recruitment, Clipper forecasts significant growth, creating much needed jobs in the Selby area. Clipper plans to continue to build operations at the site until the distribution centre has reached its full capacity.
Clipper managing director Tony Mannix said: “We have worked on a number of projects involving the use of rail within customer’s supply chains and the site in Selby provides a fantastic platform for handling container traffic from the southern ports and integration with the new deep sea Northern Gateway at Teesport. The facility is ideally suited to retail logistics and e-fulfilment activity and by working closely with Matthew Lamb and his team at The Potter Group, we will fully exploit rail connected solutions for our retail customers.”
