Primark has signed a deal with BSI Management Systems to deploy its Entropy Software, a web-based supply chain audit, compliance and performance management system, as part of the company’s ethical trade strategy.
In June last year Primark was embarrassed by revelations in the BBC’s “Panorama” programme that three of its suppliers in India were sub-contracting work to smaller firms that employed child labour.
The low-cost fashion retailer, a subsidiary of Associate British Foods, has several hundred independent suppliers based predominantly in China and South Asia.
The software is designed to simplify the management of compliance with ethical standards, which will aid the management of its independent auditing programme.
Entropy Software also helps companies to address risk, compliance and performance management in areas of corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, environmental, health and safety, quality and supply chain compliance management.
