Palletline has invested further in the establishment of a Northern Hub for handling traffic in the north of England and Scotland, which it says will contribute towards reducing road miles for pallets collected and delivered in the regions.
It is based at a recently constructed 40,000 sq ft distribution centre on the Global Logistics site in Trafford Park, Manchester and integrates into the company’s established track and trace system.
Kevin Buchanan, managing director of Palletline, said: “Initial calculations suggest a potential reduction in road miles in the region of 15 per cent, reflecting our continued commitment to a strategy of operation innovations developed to benefit our membership and their customers across the UK.”
The Northern Hub is designed to complement activities at the company’s Central Hub in the West Midlands and the new London Hub and Consolidation Centre in Middlesex.
