Family-owned haulier Mel Jones & Son Transport is saving £75,000 annually in transport costs since installing a fleet management system from EcoTrak.
The system enables the haulier to track its fleet of 44-tonne trucks, and helps monitor driver performance and record engine idling.
Owner Matt Jones said: “Before we had the system installed, we had no idea about what our drivers were doing as soon as they left the depot gates. The system also allows us to plan ahead. We can see when the drivers are due back and plan deliveries accordingly.”
The EcoTrak reporting suite provides information on the time spent driving within the “green band” range for each driver. This optimum rev range is configured to the specification of the individual truck to reflect the most cost efficient way of driving.
The haulier has also recently installed EcoTrak+: the economy engine remapping system from CMS SupaTrak, which is said to be able to provide fuel savings of ten to 20 per cent.
