Uniq Prepared Foods Northampton has commissioned a new ERP system from Solarsoft Business Systems.
The £450,000 installation is designed to renovate stock management, modernise quality control, reduce waste, cut down labour and streamline reporting processes.
It is expected that the company, which is part of the Uniq European Chilled and Frozen food group, will see a return on investment within three years.
Uniq Prepared Foods Northampton is a manufacturer and supplier of sandwiches, producing and packaging 1.5 million sandwiches per week for companies including Marks & Spencer in the UK and Ireland and British Airways.
Uniq already uses Solarsoft at its dessert plants in Devon and Shropshire.
Darren Atkinson, supply chain manager at Uniq Northampton, said: “Solarsoft’s Tropos software is a powerful and flexible ERP system, which is already widely used in the UK food and drinks industries. The software has been developed for regulated, short-cycle demand-driven process manufacturers so it has all of the specialist functionality that we were looking for and it is also very user-friendly.
“The reporting functionality within Solarsoft will save us a great deal of time and money by providing one version of the truth to all 1,000 staff across the organisation. The new ERP system enables those in the warehouse, the technical team, the finance team and the business planners, access to real-time visibility of information.
“We are expecting to save in various areas such as waste, labour and, with the ability to streamline the production of our reports, anticipate a full return on investment within three years.”
