Dachser has set up a joint venture in Bangladesh trading under the name of Dachser Bangladesh and specialising in air and sea freight as well as logistics services. “Our goal is to quickly advance to the top five logistics providers in this dynamic growth market,” said Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.
The head office is in Dhaka, the country’s capital with three locations – Dhaka City, Dhaka Airport and Chittagong.
The majority shareholder of the company is AFL Dachser and the logistics manager Syed Sadaquat Hossain, who has been active in the region for over 25 years, has shares in the joint venture.
Dachser reckons that despite the present crisis, Bangladesh’s economy is currently on a steady path of growth, positioning it better than other countries of the region. A number of companies in the textiles industry, predominantly from China, Japan and Europe, are expanding or relocating their production to Bangladesh.
