Wolseley is set to close its distribution centres in Didcot and Chorley, in a bid to improve efficiency, reduce costs and realign supply chain activities as a result of the economic situation.
The move will result in 133 job losses at Chorley and 76 jobs losses at Didcot. A further 60 roles at the transport out-bases supporting the DCs will also be lost.
Rob Marchbank, chief executive of Wolseley, said: “Any job losses are regrettable; however there is a need to adjust our business to the prevailing market conditions. We fully recognise our responsibilities to all individuals affected by this announcement and we will consult with them to ensure they ate dealt with in a fair and sensitive manner.”
