Cranleigh Freight Services has achieved a four star rating in the South Yorkshire Care4Air initiative which is part of the Efficient and Cleaner Operators Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme.
Cranleigh had to show its environmental efforts, including driver training, use of fuel management systems and the age of their fleet.
The overall aim of the scheme is to encourage all fleet operators to adopt similar practices improving their operational efficiency to the benefit of air quality and to have a real impact on an organisation’s carbon footprint.
Cranleigh sales and marketing manager Becky Young said: “To be approved to this scheme and receiving recognition is a further step forward in the company’s green policy and emphasises our commitment to operational and environmental performance. Our four star rating shows that at least 75 per cent of the fleet complied with the requirements of the scheme. We are delighted to be the first in the South and look forward to this scheme going nationwide”.
This programme was put together by Barnsley Metropolitan borough Council, Sheffield City Council and Travel South Yorkshire and the Scheme developed by Transport & Travel Research Ltd on behalf of the South Yorkshire Local Transport Plan Air Quality Steering Group.
