Freight by Water, which promotes water freight transport in the UK, has launched the first phase of its upgraded database.
The upgrade is designed to make it an interactive information source for companies looking to reduce carbon emissions, avoid congestion and save on fuel costs. It covers:
* Ship and Barge Operators
* Freight Forwarders
* Ports and Terminals
* Brokers
* Consultants
* Cargo Statistics
* Legal Advisors
There is also a map feature using Google maps to provide satellite and map views of all the UK ports, waterways and their interconnection with other transport modes.
Executive director Francis Power said: “We felt that since the available technology had advanced since we first introduced the service, it was time we gave it a full upgrade.
“To help us with this, we ask everyone in the water freight and distribution industry to visit the site regularly and check details of their own services to make sure they are present and correct. Tell us if they have changed so we can quickly update them.”
