Skills for Logistics has launched Stairway Interactive, a tool designed to support recruitment, retention, training and development, as part of its Professional Development Stairway.
It aims to provide the logistics industry with a career development framework that enables employers and employees to plan and map career progression and provide the foundation to base structured Continuous Professional Development programmes.
Once an appropriate job profile has been assigned, users can log current qualifications and training experience. Stairway Interactive will then be able to identify the most appropriate solution, highlighting any skills gaps and pointing the user to the most relevant qualifications and training providers.
It can also assist with activities such as succession planning, appraisals, recruitment, training needs analysis and providing an industry benchmarking tool.
Cheryl Simons, skills framework manager at Royal Mail which has used Stairway Interactive, said: “In Royal Mail we are committed to developing our people and are always looking at tools that will ease this process. As a business we have performance management systems and learning platforms but we needed something that went over and above their current capability.
“We specifically wanted something that could be used by the individual as a career mapping and development tool as well as for the business that could show at a glance where people currently are, where their aspirations lie and use this to inform intelligent succession planning data and training needs requirements.
“When we were first presented with Stairway Interactive, we were immediately impressed and excited by the scope of its functionality and have worked closely with Skills for Logistics in turning this into a workable model that suits the needs of both the Royal Mail business and our individuals.”
