PPG Refinish, which produces refinishing paint for cars at Stowmarket in Suffolk, has renewed its warehousing contract with Norbert Dentressangle for a further four years.
Dentressangle was originally appointed by the former ICI Automotive Refinish division in 1997 and has since been retained by PPG following its acquisition of the ICI division in 1999.
The operator is responsible for managing the flow of product into and out of PPG’s 100,000 sq ft on-site warehouse. More than 15 million tins of product are received, both from the UK and Italian manufacturing plants, for onward delivery to distributors and body shops throughout Europe. In recent months, it has worked with PPG to enhance systems functionality to support improved traceability and reporting.
Under a separate contract, Norbert Dentressangle Transport UK is responsible for the UK distribution operation, using its national night network to offer a next-day delivery service to customers throughout the UK.
PPG’s European logistics manager, Melanie Godfrey said: “Following a competitive tender, we had no hesitation in awarding the new contract to the incumbent who, in addition to their specialist knowledge of our current operational requirements and flexibility to adapt as these continue to change, demonstrated their commitment to working with us through an attractive and mutually beneficial commercial agreement.”
