GDL Holdings, the parent company of Gregory Distribution, has bought Kay Transport from owners, Steve and Sheila Winzer.
Kay Transport is a West Country-based transport and distribution business with annual sales amounting to some £10 million. It employs 140 people at its base in Plymouth and other depots in Newton Abbot and Gloucester.
The company will continue to trade under the same name in its familiar red livery.
Steve Winzer said: “I see the sale to Gregory Distribution, a well respected and well known Devon-based business, as a positive move for my business; being part of a larger organisation without losing its identity is good news for both customers and staff”.
John Gregory, the Chief Executive of Gregory Distribution, added: “The acquisition of Kay Transport is an opportunity for both companies to extend the range of the services provided. By working alongside our existing business, it will offer even more flexibility and resource to our customers.”
