Retailer Timberband has consolidated home deliveries across its retail operation by signing a £750,000 contract with Nightfreight.
Under the 12-month rolling deal, the carrier will handle deliveries across the UK for all products bought via Timberband’s mattress24.co.uk, bedsdirect.com and Cannock Beds.
Nightfreight’s promise to provide an efficient next-day solution for awkward and outsized items played a big part in the decision.
The company will use its one-man and two-man solution to provide home delivery for a diverse range of beds, bedsteads and mattresses nationwide.
The majority of items will be delivered using the one-man service before 1pm the next day, with around 3,500 orders handled on a monthly basis.
Where larger and heavier items require a two-man solution, Nightfreight will liaise with Timberband and the customer to arrange a delivery date.
Daily collections will be made from Timberband’s central distribution warehouse in Chester. From there, products will be trunked to Nightfreight’s national Hub at Willenhall in the West Midlands, before entering the shared-user operation.
Colin Montgomery at Timberband Limited said: “Nightfreight’s expertise in handling large-and irregular-sized products was a key consideration when choosing a partner to handle our home delivery needs.
“This combined with an unrivalled network solution and a highly-responsive team means that we are able to provide high quality home delivery to our customers.”
