SCA Recycling UK is taking delivery of 21 new DAF 26-tonne rigids in a five-year, full service contract hire deal with Fraikin.
The trucks will replace more than a quarter of the company’s 75-strong fleet, and are expected to cover some 72,000 miles per year each.
Robin Collier, operations director at SCA Recycling, said: “Through contract hiring we are able to remove the day-to-day fleet management issues while ensuring our O Licence commitments are continually met.
“Furthermore, the financial benefits of contract hire allow us to prioritise capital expenditure on our core business, whilst spreading the transport cost throughout the duration of the agreement.”
The trucks will be used primarily for the collection of recovered paper from printers, publishers and carton manufacturers.
Fraikin will provide MOTs, tyres and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance, as part of the deal.
The trucks feature a lifting rear-axle, HIAB hooklift body with demountable bin equipment, Multilift EasyOver sheeting and VBG heavy vehicle coupling system, to enable the rigids to operate with drawbar tri-axle skeletal trailers at 44 tonnes gross.
