SBS Worldwide Group has appointed Doug Overett as its first UK country manager. He will report directly to the group chairman and will have overall responsibility for running the UK business.
He has over 30 years industry experience, having worked in the UK and US in both sales and operational roles with leading forwarders, including MSAS/Exel (now DHL) and Hellmann Worldwide. More recently Doug has worked with Wincanton in the container haulage sector and supported a number of projects for the Uniserve Group.
Chairman Steve Walker said the company was strengthening its management team as part of its strategic global development plan which includes targeting new areas for growth such as Asia.
In addition, Geoff Gillo has become a non-executive director. “He will be working with us to develop the strategic expansion of the group and his appointment will also assist with the introduction of a more structured management and reporting of the group’s activities,” said Walker.
Gillo has years of experience in logistics including that as European finance & commercial director of Tibbett & Britten until its acquisition by Exel in 2004. He is an equity director of Keswick Enterprises– a privately owned company set up by John Harvey, the former T&B chief, focusing on logistics and supply chain activities.
