Structural building products supplier Simpson Strong-Tie has extended its contract with Palletways Birmingham to provide UK-wide distribution, as well as deliveries to Europe.
Palletways Birmingham collects a high volume of pallet consignments from Simpson Strong-Tie’s manufacturing site in Tamworth and delivers to hundreds of locations throughout the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
Under the contract, Palletways will also provide its consignment stockholding service, Stargate Logistics, in Scotland.
It is located adjacent to its hub in Livingston and offers a flexible value added storage service for year-round products and is used by Simpson Strong-Tie to maximise its competitiveness in the north.
Simpson Strong-Tie will also use Palletways’ cross Channel delivery service to ship product between the UK and its manufacturing sites in Boulstrup, Denmark and La Rochelle, France.
John Phipps, director of manufacturing at Simpson Strong-Tie, said: “Following a review of our supply chain requirements a few years ago, we chose Palletways as our main UK logistics provider and since then, they’ve provided a very high level of service to our customers both in the UK and Europe, which is paramount to the ongoing success of our business.
“In addition, Palletways’ single European IT platform gives us complete peace of mind as we can track and trace our products using the same systems anywhere in Europe.”
Palletways originally won the contract in 2006.
