Lufthansa Cargo has added an Athens route to its freighter schedule, in response to the growing importance of the Greek airfreight market.
It will be operating a once weekly flight from Frankfurt to Athens, which will then fly via Mumbai to Hong Kong.
In addition, the Frankfurt – Istanbul – Frankfurt route will be serviced five times a week after a short stoppage and on Saturdays, and an extra stopover in Athens has been implemented.
Lufthansa Cargo will also continue serving Athens with belly capacities on passenger aircraft and ad-hoc road services from Frankfurt and Munich airports.
From 20th August, a twice weekly flight from Frankfurt to Seattle will be launched.
Additionally, Lufthansa Cargo has expanded its services to South America, with daily connections to Viracopos/Brazil and flights from Bogota/Columbia, as well as a second stopover each week in Curitiba which will come into effect on 5th August.
Bernhard Kindelbacher, senior vice president network product management at Lufthansa Cargo, said: “The newcomers to the network in Europe, the USA and South America will strengthen the position of Lufthansa Cargo in those markets and offer our customers attractive connections to strong growth regions.
“Moreover, they show how fast and flexible we are harnessing opportunities in a difficult market environment so as to emerge from the crisis as a reliable and future-proof partner for our customers.”
