Rugged mobile computer manufacturer Getac Technology has unveiled an RFID tracking and management system to help reduce labour time and costs.
It is designed to allow users to accurately track assets, equipment, goods and personnel in real-time and can be applied to logistics warehouse management, supply chain management, retail, healthcare and medical management and manufacturing.
It combines active and passive technologies, and supports different kinds of RFID standards in both short and long ranges.
Getac’s tags can also be customised to include additional sensors such as temperature and motion sensing devices, which automatically sends out alerts via a control system in the event of any anomaly in a target object.
Peter Molyneux, business development director at Getac UK, said: “The new RFID system has been developed to ensure a long-term tracking and management solution that promises to operate precisely in challenging and ever evolving environments.
“Our next step will be to draw upon our R&D resources and experience in the rugged sector to combine rugged computing to RFID devices in order to improve their resistance to shock, vibration, water and extreme temperatures.”
