Women in Logistics is celebrating its first anniversary and is set to launch a mentoring scheme.
The group was formed in September 2008 with the aim of helping to increase the number of women in the sector and now has more than four hundred and fifty members.
It is a voluntary non-funded organisation, but is supported by the Freight Transport Association, Road Haulage Association, Skill for Logistics, United Kingdom Warehousing Association and CILT, among others.
The group offers support and encouragement to women in the industry and provides professional development and networking opportunities.
The group will be celebrating its birthday with three parties held simultaneously in Leamington Spa, Warrington and London on 17th September.
Women in Logistics will also be holding a Sustainable Logistics event on 18th October at Sainsbury’s flagship green depot in Northampton, where it will also be launching a mentoring scheme for members. Its aim is to provide practical assistance to younger professionals in the industry.
