Household appliance manufacturer Indesit has consolidated its European EDI based trading network on GXS Trading Grid.
Indesit manufactures some 15 million home appliances a year under the brands Indesit, Hotpoint-Ariston and Scholtès. Indesit has 17 production facilities. The GXS system was already in place in the UK, which had the company’s largest and most advanced B2B electronic trading infrastructure.
The new consolidated EDI network is used throughout Europe to send orders, invoices and delivery notes to Indesit’s principal customers including retailers, online stores and catalogue companies. Indesit estimates the volume of EDI documents sent across GXS Trading Grid to be more than 100,000 a year.
Indesit had built up what it called “a patchwork quilt” of nationally-based EDI networks, and wanted to consolidate thisinto a single pan-European EDI infrastructure.
Carlo Cingolani, supply chain information technology manager at Indesit, said: “Key benefits are improved performance since we are no longer reliant on different solutions, and cost savings in maintenance.”
