Wine importer Fells has signed a multi-million pound deal with London City Bond to provide warehousing, distribution and added value services.
The three-year contract includes bonded storage of more than 100,000 cases at the Barking site, picking to order and nationwide distribution.
The wine and spirits logistics provider will also produce up to 25 per cent of the company’s gift sets, which arte targeted at supermarkets, department stores, off licences and cash and carries.
Geoff Rider, operations director at Fells, said: “The gift packing area of our business has grown significantly in recent years and now includes a range of food and non-food sets that are sold across the retail sector.
“As a result, we needed a flexible logistics provider that could offer significant supply chain efficiencies and meet changing customer demand patterns.”
Jeff Stanton, non-executive chairman of London City Bond, added: “The contract reflects our growing reputation for providing added value logistics services, which is very much part of our business development strategy going forward.
“It also demonstrates our capability to offer nationwide distribution services to a wide range of end points beyond the immediate wine trade, such as supermarkets and cash and carries.”
London City Bond has appointed Eric Vose project manager to oversee the Fells gift packing operation and distribution.
