The number of AMI UK customers booking airfreight online hit a new peak in August 2009, up 20 per cent on the same month last year, and six per cent above the previous record set in July 2008.
The number of online bookers has grown every month since May 2009, when AMI added daily-updated fuel and war risk surcharges to its online quotation system, giving customers an immediate, all-inclusive quote without the need to check surcharges by telephone.
At the same time, AMI issued its first PDF tariff, which enables customers to click on any destination to go straight to the online booking facility. AMI’s online bookings facility now handles over 40 per cent of all UK export freight bookings.
General manager, sales, marketing and business development, Nigel Moolenaar said: “The emphasis for our web site has shifted from facilitating bookings to being the most immediate source of quotations that include up to date rates and surcharges. In an increasingly unstable market, AMI provides the clarity and simplicity our customers need.”
