A public inquiry into the development of a rail freight terminal at St Albans has been set for early October. The inquiry follows the unanimous decision by St Albans council to refuse planning permission for HelioSlough’s 3.5m sq ft rail freight terminal after the developer resubmitted the proposal. The resubmission led to 1,200 written representations from local residents opposed to the plans. Some 350 people packed the meeting while a further 100 watched on the internet.
