Agility Europe has appointed Sjaak Poot country manager in Portugal, reporting directly to Francesc Casamitjana, chief executive of Agility’s area south, comprising Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Poot has been tasked with building business in Portugal, focusing on the development of the existing road freight network, maintaining high service levels and introducing more frequent departures.
He will also strengthen air and sea services particularly to tie in with growing markets such as the Far East, India and the former Portuguese colonies of Angola and Mozambique.
Poot has been with Agility since 2002 when he joined the London office as director of European road freight before becoming UK road freight manager.
