BMW has chosen Kuehne + Nagel to manage its spare parts distribution centre for servicing the Japanese aftermarket.
Under a three-year contract, Kuehne + Nagel will provide services like receiving, inventory control, picking & packing, handling of dangerous goods and value-added services, such as key coding and key cutting, for BMW automotive spare parts.
The 18,000 sqm facility is owned by BMW and holds over 50,000 stock-keeping units.
After the current implementation and transition phase, Kuehne + Nagel will cooperate with the customer on a continuous improvement of the car manufacturer’s supply chain processes, introducing new tools such as pick-by-voice systems and the Kuehne + Nagel Production System.
