DIA, a subsidiary of the Carrefour Group, has extended its use of Zetes’ 3iVoice software.
The distribution chain already uses the software in Europe and America and will now be rolling it out in Asia.
The company has more than 50,000 employees and operates in Spain, Greece, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil and China under the DIA banner; in Portugal as Minipreço; and in France under the names Ed and DIA.
It has a total of 44 warehouses where orders are prepared for dispatch to more than 6,200 shops.
Zetes first set up a voice picking system for the company in 2006 at one of its Spanish warehouses, with the aim of increasing productivity and improving working conditions.
This led to the gradual incorporation of the voice system in the rest of the group’s Spanish, French, Portuguese and Greek warehouses. All the work was done by local subsidiaries of Zetes.
For the deployment in Asia, a trial will shortly be set up in the company’s Shanghai warehouse, before being extended to the Beijing warehouse.
Julián Villena, DIA Group supply chain director, said: “The benefits we observed during the project’s pilot phase convinced us that the Zetes 3iVoice solution was ideal for our requirements. It has enabled us to reduce the number of errors in preparing orders considerably, and to improve working conditions.”
