DaiMay, the Chinese automotive polyurethane product manufacturer, has chosen Acumen Logistics to provide an integrated logistics package for the supply of headrests to UK car makers.
It expects to ship 540,000 pieces to the UK each year. Acumen will manage the flow of goods and services from receiving shipping containers of headrests at its warehouse in Redditch for delivery to the customers. Services include devanning the containers, visual inspection, repacking into line side boxes, storage and then shipping on a Just-In-Time basis.
Shanghai-based DaiMay is one of the largest manufacturers of polyurethane products for the automotive industry supplying sun visors, steering wheels and seating assemblies.
Vice General Manager of DaiMay, Chunlei Ye said: “We are very pleased with Acumen and the services they are supplying to us. The company is very reliable, systematic and efficient and is totally committed to our business partnership”.
Earlier this year Acumen purchased Auto UK Logistics, now rebranded Acumen Automotive Logistics, and is currently looking at further acquisitions within the market sector.
Commercial director John Stocker said: “Winning this contract means that Acumen has further expanded its service portfolio within the UK automotive logistics sector. We are now planning to grow the company organically and this will include actively looking for suitable acquisition opportunities.
