Hansen Transmissions International has chosen the RedPrairie Warehouse Management System to support the logistics processes at its new production site in Tianjin, China.
Sites in Coimbatore, India and Lommel, Belgium will follow.
Belgian group Hansen is a designer, manufacturer and supplier of gearboxes for wind turbines and other industrial applications. “We have long used a custom-made logistics system,” said Marnix Maes, corporate IT director. “For support, we are highly dependent on internal knowledge. That certainly gives our overseas sites continuity risks. We want to manage these risks by centralising our IT and standardising our WMS.”
The factory in China will be the first to get the new system and will serve as a template for the rollout to the other locations. “With the new system we are able to achieve a central IT strategy,” said Maes. “That makes us more flexible and reduces risk. With the new system we can continue to optimise our processes and reduce unnecessary stock. That translates into lower costs.”
“RedPrairie is very fortunate to work on projects like these” said Martin Hiscox, president & managing director, RedPrairie International. “We look forward to delivering results at all Hansen Transmission sites and helping them to improve efficiency.”
