Clive Broadley has become president of CLECAT, the Brussels based European association for forwarding, transport, logistic and customs services.
Broadley, who is managing director of the international division of Meachers Global Logistics, takes over from Jean-Claude Delen who has stepped down as a result of his recent election as president of FIATA.
CLECAT’s membership consists of the majority of national freight forwarder associations throughout the EU and its prime purpose is to guard and promote the freight forwarding sector’s interests at European level.
The appointment has been welcomed by the British International Freight Association. Director general, Peter Quantrill said: “Clive’s appointment is important as it helps to strengthen BIFA’s influence and involvement in this organisation and facilitate contacts with important stakeholders, for the benefit of our members.
“It follows the recent election of Christine D’Arcy, chair of the BIFA Legal and Insurance Policy Group as vice president of FIATA, joining the extended board, and the appointment of BIFA’s executive director, Robert Keen as chairman of the FIATA Working Group Sea and thus vice chair of the Multimodal Transport Institute.”
Broadley is a past chairman of BIFA, and currently serves on the trade association’s board of directors.
