Tesco has signed a contract with Clipper Logistics following the launch of its clothingattesco.com web site in November.
Clipper handles the e-fulfilment operation from its 300,000 sq ft rail connected facility in Selby, North Yorkshire, which houses the retailer’s full range of online clothing.
The operation uses Clipper Logistics’ e-fulfilment software, which has been further developed to meet the requirements of the Tesco clothing business.
Clipper has also worked with Tesco to produce an operational model to handle the growth planned by the retailer for its online clothing offer.
Neil Ashworth, supply chain director, Tesco.com, added: “We chose Clipper Logistics as our partner for our new clothing venture in light of their experience and operational knowledge of both the clothing and e-fulfilment markets… they have been particularly responsive and dynamic to an evolving model and have demonstrated the capability to deliver under often challenging circumstances.”
