Dexion has relaunched its mobile racking system Movo, which is designed to reduce costs for new buildings and use existing storage space more profitably.
It features standard racking mounted on powered mobile bases to form banks of mobile racks, which are electronically powered and moved to enable a forklift truck access to every aisle.
The system claims to offer around 50 per cent additional use of space, as well as increasing storage capacity by up to 150 per cent.
Movo has been used primarily in cold stores traditionally, but the modular design means it can also be installed in a number of other applications.
It is designed to save time thanks to shorter distances travelled, reduce cleaning and operating costs as the storage area is smaller and lower energy costs.
Denis Reynolds, Dexion’s director – UK direct sales, said: “Traditionally there has been a much lower take up of these systems in the ambient sector, but with the projected taxes on carbon emissions and the move towards smaller floor areas, we believe that there is now a greater requirement for Movo racking.”
