3G Food Service & Seafood Solutions has selected Paragon’s Multi Depot planning route optimisation software.
The multi-temperature food and beverage distributor will replace manual planning for each depot, allowing it to centralise its planning function and improve transparency and customer service.
3G will use Paragon software to plan 130 daily routes for its fleet of 47 multi-temperature vehicles that make an average total of 600 deliveries per day.
“The software will allow us to review and improve our fixed route network and flex depot boundaries to gain maximum efficiency throughout our operation,” said Alex Smales, 3G’s operations director.
“In addition we are looking to reduce our road miles, fuel usage and emissions. We anticipate that it will also help us to reduce our carbon footprint.”
3G also plans to add live vehicle tracking data to the system using Paragon Fleet Controller, which will allow the operations department to recalibrate plans using accurate tracking information.
“Vehicle tracking will add a further dimension to our planning,” added Smales. “We are reviewing some systems that will allow us to gather live information from each vehicle and feed it directly into Paragon using the Fleet Controller product. With this we can compare actual delivery times against the Paragon generated plans and then adjust them to gain even greater accuracy.”
